Class structure - Each class begins with a 15-20 minutes Qigong set to regulate energy in the body. Qigong sets generally consist of 6 to 8 stationary movements that are repeated 6 to 12 times. The focus is on posture, breath regulation, and intention. The remainder of the class is devoted to foundational training (e.g., drills of specific movements) and instruction in a Tai Chi form. Tai Chi forms consists of series of slowly performed movements (e.g., 24, 36, 72, 108) based on martial arts. Examples of Nganga Tolo-Naa performing segments of forms taught at Draco Academy can be seen on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com): Other forms are shown here:

Tai Chi means “grand ultimate” and this rewarding training provides excellent results for the body, mind, and spirit. Physically, Tai Chi is comparable to aerobic exercise and improves circulation and flexibility (muscle, tendon, and ligament function). Mental focus and memory are challenged and strengthened. On a spiritual level, Tai Chi practitioners become more centered and open to the possibilities of their life. Please consult the National Institute of Health web site for more information: (http://nccam.nih.gov/health/taichi/ ).
